ENGINE 343
1942 Mack FIRE TRUCK
This engine is 1942 mack fire engine that was originally used in the military as a pumper. the flower mound fire department acquired it from the department of defense in 1975. though the fire department had a couple brush trucks, this engine was used as the fmfd’s first true fire engine.
In 2012, it was discovered that one of fmfd’s previous members still had the engine parked in a field in flower mound. A group of firefighters then rescued the truck from the pasture and discovered that the trucks original engine number was 343, and project engine 343 was born.
While progress over the years has been slow, due to funding and changing of hands, we are now ready to get this project complete!
Our mission is to restore this engine to resemble how it appeared in the 1970’s when it was used as a frontline fire engine for the flower mound fire department.
